Is ‘The Hat Shop’ a real Store or just a website?
We no longer have a retail outlet. We had a retail outlet located in Mooloolaba on Queensland’s Sunshine coast selling hats for over 12 years. This store has been closed down due to high overheads.

How does having no retail outlet affect you?
This means lower overheads (costs) and you will benefit from lower prices. Like all e-commerce stores you may not be able try on a hat, but you will gain from much lower prices. A flexible returns policy makes for a satisfying shopping experience.

Are our products genuine?
Absolutely! We source the best available millinery products and provide them at the best possible price.

What size should I order?
Please refer to our “size Chart”. If you have any queries, or require some advice, please contact us. Note also different hats fit differently so check out the size charts for the style of hat you are looking at purchasing.

Why do some Akubra Hats take 3 months to get?
Akubra are constantly manufacturing their best sellers, but for the slower moving styles, Akubra gather orders over 10 – 12 weeks, hence the styles and colours with 10 -12 weeks next to them need to be (indented) made to order. While this means that you will have to wait approximately 3 months for your hat, but it will be well worth the wait.

What does an * next to some sizes and colours mean?
The * next to some sizes means these sizes are not available in stock and need to be ordered in. This is normally the case with some larger sizes. We can usually order these styles in quickly but as the are not fast moving we don’t keep them on hand. Please contact us for delivery estimates on these styles and colours.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, & Paypal payments.

Note some order payments may need to be verified with a copy of a drivers licence or other ID before we will process your order. This helps in eliminating credit card fraud.

What are the benefits of using PayPal?
It's Fast - Payments are made immediately, quicker than sending bank transfers or money orders.

What if you are out of stock in my ordered item?
We keep our website up-to-date as best we can. If we are out of stock or unable to post your order within 1-2 days we will notify you and advise the expected date of dispatch. We will always email you to confirm the goods have been dispatched.

Currency and taxes?
All our prices are in Australian Dollars including GST (if purchasing outside of Australia GST is removed from the price). Prices on our site are normally up-to-date, but are subject to change without notice.

Shipping?
All our products are delivered by Australian Post, unless you request other means. Freight prices are calculated on the current Australia Post rate for parcels or boxes depending on hats dimensions (within Australia & Worldwide).

Returns Policy?
The Hat Shop will exchange items within 21 days of purchase if the item happens to be either incorrect size or colour. We would of course ask for a copy of your original receipt/order number, and tags must be still in place to receive a exchange. (Note if tags have been removed the hat is deemed to have been worn, and no exchange can be given).
